Muntjac Deer

A walk in the Spring like sunshine today. While in a bird hide a Munjac deer appeared in the glade. These deer are the oldest known species first appearing as long ago as 35 million years ago. However in the UK they are not native and are thought to have originally escaped from Woburn Park in 1925. They are now relatively common throughout Essex.
