Entry

A busy week with mixed fortunes. I saw my first grass snake for some time in a pond at Wat Tyler Park and a fleeting glance of a migrant Ring Ouzel in Gunners Park. I also saw this flower on some waste ground at Wat Tyler. I think it may be a member of the Cranes Bill family.

And a farewell photo of the Waxwings still hanging around in Southend. This is possibly their longest stay in the UK. I wonder if any strays may stay and breed, it is very late to still be here I think.

A trip to Dunwich Heath gave me my first picture of a Dartford Warbler. While there I also saw a Red Kite, A Hen Harrier and several Marsh Harriers at Minsmere.

Sadly I found a dead frog in the garden pond this morning. It was a large mature one so let's hope it was natural causes!
