These delightful little characters have been entertaining visitors as they break up the Reed Mace (Bullrush) seed heads in search for minute caterpillars. They then descend to the reedbed floor to eat the dislodged seeds.

You are right on two counts Catse. Their proper name nowadays is Bearded Reedlings. Also they don’t have a beard but a “moustache” as you say!
I find it’s more like tears of ink …. than mustaches :whistle:
