Being near to the Essex marshes means there are always lots of waders around. One of the success stories of the last 50 years is the return of Avocets which are now breeding in large numbers and can be seen in huge flocks. After the second World War they had all but vanished from the UK but in part due to efforts by the RSPB and other organisations they have successfully returned.
This pair are starting to display and I believe this synchronising of behaviour is part of that ritual.
